Protecting Our Way of Life

Stay up to date

It is important I know what matters to you in order to be your voice in the Queensland Parliament.

It is important I know what matters to you in order to be your voice in the Queensland Parliament.
I will work with all levels of government to protect our way of life.

The pressure of a growing population on our struggling infrastructure means I must fight to be at the forefront of change, pushing the Government to meet our needs before it is too late.

We need better public transport, safer roads and well-resourced schools. The Sunshine Coast is the second fastest growing region in Queensland and we will be supporting 470,000 people by 2036. We must plan for more schools, more jobs, equitable access to health care, and make sure our neighbourhoods are safe.

Will you join the conversation and work with me to make a better Buderim Electorate? I will try to make it easier for you to share your thoughts by doorknocking and by hosting mobile offices throughout the electorate.

You may also choose to follow me on Facebook, complete my 30 second survey, sign up to receive my e-newsletter, or simply call my office and have a chat.

I am proud to be a member of David Crisafulli’s LNP team, and together we are committed to securing Queensland’s future.

You were amazing on the committee - asking the right questions at the right time Brent. Thank you. We appreciate you.

Thank you so much once again, Brent! 🙏❤️ We are truly appreciative of your support, and thrilled to hear that the bill is currently on pause. Looking forward to the future consultations and formation of the QLD Home-School Advisory Board, which will hopefully include some of our key homeschooling parent advocates, Rose P. Fitz and Amanda Bartle. Hopefully the homeschooling community will also be consulted in the advisory board selection process. Sincerest thanks once again. 🎉👍

Thank you, Brent Mickelberg MP - Member for Buderim! We are thankful for your work on the committee and asking relevant and necessary questions during the hearings. We are so pleased that there will be proper consultation going forward. The Department of Education has emailed families this afternoon advising that the guiding principle "enshrining the best interests of the child in regards to Home Education" is remaining in the Bill to push through. This may be an error as they've had trouble listening before. But if it is true, there are many of us concerned as to why this hasn't been removed since it specifically also pertains to homeschooling. We will watch and see what the next few days brings! #free2homeschool

Thank you for your support of homeschooling families! While watching the committee hearings, it was great to hear someone in our corner!

Yet the highly contentious Section 7 which refers to home education needing to be in the best interests of the child will be "enshrined" in the legislation. DoE reps have said there will be no test of this and it is only a 'lens'. So why legislate what should be a core value of society and common decency? There is a huge amount of concern regarding this clause as it is so subjective and undermines the rights of a parent to be the peak authority in their child's life. The homeschooling community welcomes genuine consultation in order to ascertain the path forward to outcomes that are in fact in our children's best interests.

Thank you for your support of homeschooling families, it means a great deal to us that we weren't ignored and that the bill was largely overturned #free2homeschool

Thanks Brent for listening to our concerns and asking some good questions in the committee hearings. Much appreciated.

Thanks Brent Mickelberg MP - Member for Buderim for taking the time to read our submissions and learn about this flourishing homeschool community! We are incredibly grateful that you have allowed us the time to explain why our child-centred learning approach IS the high quality education they deserve! We would love to hear more from your party to assure us of your support if elected later in the year. For now, thank you so much! You have represented our needs well in your participation in this committee. #free2homeschool

Happy term 2 to everyone! We've started our day with a beach swim. Now we're working on a self-chosen geography project, and soon will be watching today's Parliament briefing, because my 12yo is very interested in the proposed changes to law that will directly affect him and his friends, but about which the government chose not to consult the homeschool community #free2homeschool We have a beautiful homeschool community here in Buderim and the wider Sunshine Coast!

Thanks Brent for all you did for our homeschooling families! 💪🙌

FLASHBACK FRIDAY 📷

Does anyone recognise this old Buderim home? This photo was taken in the 1920s.

It's Milford Lodge today. The century old home certainly is a special spot for a child care centre.

Thanks to Buderim , Past, Present and future. for the photo 👍

The LNP’s blueprint for the state prioritises five key areas: 🚔 Making our community safer 🏥 Easier access to health services 💸 Saving you paying for Labor’s failures 🏠 Securing our housing foundations 🤝 Working harder for Queenslanders To learn more visit www.lnp.org.au/right-priorities/

Can you please abolish the QBCC while you’re at it?
